There seems to always be somebody that uses quotes extremely overused or way too predictably. Many of these are less powerful (but still annoying) such as those chiche quotes placed on shirts all the time. If you want a theme to put on yourself, at least be halfway creative and have your own. This is also why I don't copy anybody's material. I can't exactly understand why somebody would want to mimic my work, and even if it's a good mimic (although this pretty much never happens) I don't really see your own ideas coming from anywhere. That or they're just that bad that it doesn't even matter. Anyways, the main point of this is to release the quotes that I dislike the most. If you already use many of these in your conversations, beware. They secretly make me twitch inside.
"Can I borrow a dollar?"
One of the most evil quotes used at my high school so far. Actually, the quote itself isn't evil... it's more accurate to say that it's the purpose the quote is used for. The only time I ever ask for money is when I'm completely desperate or I know that I am able to return the amount quite easily. Almost never do I need more than a quarter, and 4 out of 5 times it's because I need it for bus fare (hey, I'm forgetful. So what?), and I'd rather not walk home for nearly 4 hours. But keeping track of who I lent money is annoying. Two people have denied me ever letting them borrow anything - that it never even happened. A snag in my character is too much stupid generosity. A complete stranger could ask for a dollar, and at first I'd be suspicious, but then I'd figure that I'll never ever get the money back anyways, and I have some spare cash, so I might as well make a donation to some kind of charity that doesn't even care where it gets its income from. This happens more often than I'd want it to as well. Blah.
"Nobody understands me."
Duh.
"I'm weird."
If I take a survey around all the people I know in some way, over 80% of them have said that exact phrase before. And the people that don't admit it are probably in denial. This extends my conclusion that the people that are not weird are weird. Think about that paradox.
"Why do you like the cactus so much?"
Why is your favorite color blue? Why do you prefer pizza over tacos? Why is the wallpaper for your PC in a pattern instead of a large image? It's just like I stated in TPMC50: Sometimes in life, the best answer is to not ask the question.
"There is no 'u' in the word 'color'!"
Whoever says this would need to take three steps back before I chuck an English dictionary at their head. At least be in tune with the history of languages before you question the way some words appear. Even my dad entitled his own workplace "The Installation Centre", and nobody really questioned it until I talked with some of my younger stepsiblings. Eh.
"I'm telling."
This is the shortened version of the following: "Due to my inability to think of any decent counterstatement to your actions or words, I will instead attempt to reprimand you for your evil deeds by turning my tail and retreating to somebody who has the authority over you... hahahaha." Can't anybody settle their own differences?
"I'm not sure how you spell that word. Look it up in the dictonary."
Does anybody see the complete irony in this statement? At all? And I heard this so often when I was younger... it drove me crazy. How exactly can you find the word if you don't know how it is spelled? If I told this to somebody like one of my younger cousins, it would pain me to witness them flipping back and forth through the "k" section trying to spell "charisma" properly. I still don't get that.
"You wouldn't understand..."
Occasionally, I get this answer from people that are not in the best mood. If I have no idea what is making you down, then of course I wouldn't be able to understand. Is it truly that I wouldn't be able to comprehend your experience, or that you are not allowing this to even happen? There are so many better responses that will end the conversation better than the one above.
This is the list I have so far, but if any new ones come up, or I remember any old ones, I'll add them as quickly as possible.
